BOTCON  AT  DISNEY
(griffin's 2010 BotCon report)

DEALER ROOM

.
.
HASBRO EXHIBIT & AUTOBOT ALLIANCE ACADEMY
.

Main desk for fans to ask questions, or get something drawn by one of the designers.
.

Kid's play area, with a couple dozen toys from about a year ago.
.
The Autobot Alliance training Academy.

Inside, you are given a nerf gun, and you are led through a tunnel of moving characters (cardboard standees). You have to shoot nerf darts at the Decepticons, to 'graduate'.
.
.
The access pass, which were being handed out at the entrance, to limit the number of people queuing up (it was also a slow process, with each trainee needing to be guided through by one of the NEST soldiers.
Second photo shows the inner holding room, which was covered in propaganda images.

.

.

.

.

Oh no, a Decepticon has been sighted in the centre of the Australian desert... looking for what???
.

The 'scanner'.  It actually took your photo and placed it over one of three selected background images.  Two were Bumblebee, while the third...
.

Yeah, I never look any good in photos...
Each person was told to do a fighting pose, but I think a scared, running pose would be more applicable with that image.
The photo is uploaded to a Hasbro website, and you are given a card with a special access code for your photo (to view, download or share).

The 'score card' and access card.  (plus a Stan Bush CD I bought, and had signed inside the booklet)

PRODUCT DISPLAY CASES
12 Display cases this year (last year had 16).

I have split them up into five pages so that it doesn't take as long to access.
PAGE 1 - DISPLAY CASES 1,2
PAGE 2 - DISPLAY CASES 3,4
PAGE 3 - DISPLAY CASES 5,6,7
PAGE 4 - DISPLAY CASES 8,9,10
PAGE 5 - DISPLAY CASES 11,12

HASBRO HALL OF FAME DISPLAY

.

The trophy given out to each human inductee. (the robot inductees get an energon cube...)

(Before the war, Megatron...)

(...Prime's most valuable team...)

.
And after the Saturday night awards dinner, this replaced the trophy that was on display.

.

(Once feared...)

ART CONTEST DISPLAY - Separate page this year, to keep each page as small as possible.

OFFICIAL GUESTS AND DISPLAYS

IDW's 'huge' booth this year.
.

Activision, showing off the new WFC game.
.

Stan Bush selling his CDs and signing autographs. (had the family with him, probably as a holiday while at Disney)
On the Saturday evening, while walking to the Awards Dinner, I ran into him and asked if he's ever been to Australia - he said no, but was really keen to one day.
.

Artists Alex Milne (front) and Dan Khanna (back).
.

.

Artist Marcelo Matere.
.

Artist Matt Moylan (seated).
.

Bumblebee statue from previous years.  Plus a showroom Camaro (not used in either movie) that was being used to generate sales for a Chevy car dealer. (why pay to have a movie prop in the convention, when you can get a car-salesman to pay you instead?)
.

Since it wasn't an actual movie prop, people were allowed to get into it and get photos taken with it as if it really was Bumblebee.

COSTUMES

.

.

.

This was just the top half, of a stilt-walker's costume.  It even had a voice-changer built in to make him sound Starscream-ish.

OTHER ASSORTED PHOTOS

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

Takara Designer Hideaki Yoke looking over the Art display (looking for ideas perhaps? - nah, just kidding)
I took this photo, because I have a photo of Aaron Archer doing the same thing (looking over the art display) way back in 2005, and thought it amusing to have the two designers 'caught' doing the same thing...

.
And at the end of it all... the dealer room being packed up after the show had ended for another year.
