PASADENA... part 3
(griffin's 2011 BotCon report)
On the Activision/High Moon Studios Panel this year, from the left - Dave (writer), Sean Miller (Director), Terry Spear (Designer), Kelvin Luu.
High Moon Studios is apparently full of fans.
This game is not a direct translation of the Movie like previous games.
This will be a prologue to the movie, leading into it, using Bay-style
action, angles and storytelling.
It will be Epic, Giant, Powerful, Fun... Set in Detroit (Earth).
They worked with Hasbro, not IDW or Bay, so any continuity issues or
conflict with the prequel comic is not their fault.
They showed us some slides, which I've been told have been revealed
already online or on their website.
But for those new to info on the game...
Some pre-production images to pitch/promote the project.

Hatchlings.

Decepticon troops.

Stratosphere... in a Stealth Force form.
.
More of Stratosphere.
.
Warpath - not actually in the Movie, but they needed a big Autobot
tank in the game.
.
Close up of Warpath's head.
.
And more of Warpath (they seemed to be impressed about him to feature
so much of this character and not really anyone else).
.
Stealth Force concept on Ironhide.
.
And Stealth Force Concept on Ratchet.
.
And another look at Stratosphere.
.
Another promo artwork.
.
Some sketches of game elements, like locations and items in the game.

And a couple more promo artworks.

One of the people on the panel really wanted to bring back Jazz in the game (he's a huge fan), but no matter how hard he tried to get him into the storyline of the game, and have him killed off before the end (by Soundwave), he just couldn't make it work.
Stealth Force is a big theme at the moment - from the Movie, which in
turn was inspired by the Stealth Force toys of TF2.
It needed to feel natural between the 3 modes, as well as the usage/control.
The 3rd mode adds more power to the character when not in Robot Mode.
Soundwave will be a playable character, and so is Laserbeak. The different sizes and forms adds a dynamic element to the game.
As with Warpath, there are some characters in the game that are not
in the movie.
And Barricade is not in the game, but there is a police car character
in the game.
There are improvements on the gunfire and movements from War For Cybertron
to make it more 'dynamic', but the controls are mostly the same.
Most of the multi-player game formats were included as well, including
Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Team Conquest.
They couldn't comment on the Downloadable and Unlockable content. That
would be announced later.
Part of the Bumblebee level was playable at the Convention, in the Dealer Room.
They finished up with showing the trailer that looked to be the same
as the one online.
