BOTCON SAN DIEGO
(griffin's 2013 BotCon adventure)

- DEALER  ROOM -

On the Friday, after the last of the panels ended just before 2pm, this was part of the line waiting to get into the Dealer Room.

And inside this year's Dealer Room.
Off to the left was the entrance, and on the left side of the dealer room was the Club Store with the Autograph area behind it. To the right of that was the Artist alley.  Up against the far wall (behind that nearest pillar) was the Hasbro exhibit.  Then all the dealers from there to the right of the photo.  On the far right was the Art contest display.

Random Dealer photos.

The mountain of Metroplexes at BBTS at the start of the Friday. To avoid having a huge crowd that would fight over who was next in line, they were giving out tickets to people, for them to come back any time that first day to be guaranteed one. They said they had 200-240 of them, so probably just had about 200 tickets.  They were selling them at US$150, compared to regular retail of US$80-130 (due to getting them air-freighted in from Asia).

It didn't matter, as they only looked to sell about a quarter on the Friday (to pre-registered attendees). This was a photo at the end of the Friday.

They did sell out midway during the Saturday though, so I guess the more committed fans knew how much they were going to be at Retail in a couple months time, were more inclined to wait and save money. I on the other hand felt that US$150 was at least equal or less than what they will be in Australia, so bought one. (making me the first Australian with a Metroplex toy)

This dealer had some Gen1 Boxsets that were too cheap to be the real thing...

Outside the Dealer Room was the info booth, which was where you could get replacement parts or swap over faulty figures.

Up the back of the Dealer Room a couple of the Voice Actor guests (David Sobolov & James Horan) had their own tables, for when they were not at the Autograph area (probably had to purchase autographs at this table).

You gotta wonder where all these Gen1 toys just suddenly show up from... after almost 30 years since they were released.

Some very new items, flown in from Asian sources.

.
Late on the Sunday, an announcement was made, asking all female fans to head over to the Hasbro Exhibit, for a group photo.
Not sure why, as it seemed rather odd (and creepy) to have a photo of female fans, as if to prove that they exist.
The guys looking on just found the whole thing amusing... and some were just shaking their heads, at our male-dominated fandom making such a fuss about the small number of female fans like this.

.
Not a lot of Japanese Gen1 toys this year, and ones that were available, were very expensive.

IDW comics.
IDW VIP Tour (if you missed it)

Blank covers for you to buy and then get the Artists to draw something on them for you.

And at the end of another (short) 3-day Annual Transformers convention, the time had come for the attendees to leave, and the dealers to start packing up what they had left.
