BOTCON  -  SORTA  NEAR  CHICAGO
(griffin's 2015 BotCon adventure)

- SATURDAY 20th JUNE - 1pm - COSPLAY & COSTUMES -

I didn't sit through much of this, as I don't have much interest in the subject matter, but I did take some photos of the costumes being shown off this year... and as I've noted in a number of places already, it was a poor turnout of significant (full body robot) costumes this year.
Most people were just dressed in normal clothes that were either colour-coordinated to vaguely resemble a robot character's colours, or were dressed up as a human character.
It was both surprising and disappointing, that after recent years of dozens of quality robot costumes, we get 7 this year (that I was able to see), and five of them were kids, who looked to have put in more effort than the two adult robot costumes... or any of the adult costumes.
To give you an idea, 2014 had about 21 robot costumes, and 2013 had about 13 robot costumes. (Pasadena seems to bring out the good costumes though)

Understand that I'm not criticising the people who did show up in something creative (because that's a major fun componant of the convention for them - and until I show up in a costume, I have no right to judge them)... I'm just making a fuss about the ones who didn't show up this year, or more importantly, the reasons that prevented them from coming this year in robot costumes (like the lateness of registration, or the remoteness of the location).

***All pictures in this convention report are mine unless noted. Any that are borrowed, have the source credited/noted.  If you want to use/borrow any of my photos, please credit the source as well. I try to take as many of my own photos as possible, and usually only resort to using others if I failed to get something, or my photo wasn't clear enough.
